I'm Baaaack!

Okay, now that I have a new home to live in with lots and LOTS of projects to do with a new budget, I'm going to be starting up my couponing again and take pictures of stuff I'm doing around the house and any crafty projects I get inspired to do, etc...etc...  Anyway, I'm so excited because I've found a blog specific to my area for frugal living and coupon.

 Wish me luck!

Get Cheez-It's for $0.50 at Walgreens next week!

*** This coupon will not work for the cheezits on sale because the ones on sale are too small for the coupon, however, Walgreens has a coupon in their new coupon booklets (they'll either have them displayed or you can just ask for one, they're free) for the larger box of cheezits that you can pair with this one to still get a pretty decent deal.***
Snackpicks.com has a new coupon out for $1/2 Cheez-it's, you have to click HERE to get it.  I'm not going to lie, this coupon is a pain to get, but worth it as Cheez-it's are on sale at Walgreens next week for. $1 a piece!  The best part of all is that there is no limit to how many of these coupons you can print, so stock up for your food storage!  Here is how you get the coupon, click on the link above that says "HERE" and click on get coupon on the right of the screan where the picture of the cheez-its is.  If your computer is like mine, it gives you a message about allowing pop-up blockers.  Go ahead and temporarilly allow pop-ups from that site.  Try clicking on it again, if it doesn't work, you will need to hold the ctrl button down as you click on it, try it a couple of times if it doesn't work the first time.  After that, you will need to register for the site, it's pretty painless, then it will bring you to the printing screan for the coupon.  Again, if your computer is like mine, it will give you a message about enabeling cookies.  Here is how to do that.  Go to your "Tools" option, select Internet Options, click on the privacy tab, then where it has the scroll bar for your security setting, scroll it all the way down until it says something like "allow all cookies."  After that, you should be able to print as many coupons as you like.  Don't forget to reset your privacy settings back to the way they were after you print.  Complicated?  Yeah, I thought so too!

My Kroger List

I got a little help on my list from Stockpiling Mom's blog. Check it out for a more complete list, but make sure and compare it with your add if you're in Johnson City, as a couple of items are slightly different in price and some are just different, not many though. Anyway, this is what I'll be getting that's on sale this week.

Kroger has a mega sale going on where you'll get $4 off instantly if you buy 8 of a certain item, so I'm going to post the price after the instant savings and just put a x8 if it's an item you need to get 8 of, or pair with other items that work with the sale (i.e. 4 cans of diced tomatoes and 4 dial bars of soap would work together, basically any item that has a x8 by it you can use any other x8 item to get your 8 total, but you need to have 8 either way to get the discount.....leave me a comment if that doesn't make sense.

Strawberries - on sale 2/$4 (last week it was 2/$5 if you need a reference point)

Delmonte Diced Tomatoes x8 = .49 each

Bumble Bee Tuna x8 = .49 each

Deer Park Water x 8 = 2.99
- 1.00 off coupon I got in the mail from Kroger

Dial Bar Soap x8 = 2.80 - 1.00 off printable coupon (I've searched and the coupon I have isn't available anymore) = 1.80 each

Hillshire Farm Deli Select Lunch Meat = 1.00 - .35 off 3/14 redplum coupon (doubled it's .70 off) = .30!

Kroger Hamburger Buns = 1.00

Heafty One Zip Bags = 2/$3 use $1 off 2 coupon (printable coupon not avail. anymore) = 1.00 each

Mott's Apple Juice x8 = .99

Irish Spring Soap x8 = 1.00 - .50 off 3/14 Smart Source Coupon (you can find the smart source coupons in the Jonesborough Herald Tribune, it's a weekly paper and comes out every Tuesday, not sure if you can find it at a jonesborough store or not, but if you do, let me know!) .50 off doubled is 1.00 off which makes it free!

There you have it.  I'll update you with any other finds and let you know if I was able to get everything on my list or not.

Free Post Raisin Bran Cereal at KMART!

*****UPDATE*****I FORGOT TO ADD THE LINK TO THE WORD "HERE." IT'S THERE NOW.
KMART has select Post Cereals on sale for 4/$7 this week.  You DO NOT have to purchase 4 to get the low $1.75 price.  If you click HERE you can print a $2 off Raisin Bran coupon (it's at the bottom of the page).  All you have to do is sign up for their free newsletter and they e-mail you the coupon instantly.  It only lets you print one, but if you're fortunate like I am and have more than one computer you can print off another.  So it's free after the coupon!  You will have to make sure an get a smaller filler item because it creates an overage, I just bought a small package of m&m's and paid like .50 for Two Boxes of Raisin Brand and a small package of peanut m&m's!  Don't miss this deal!

Coupon Deal

I found a sweet coupon deal all by myself without the help of other blogs.  :)  It's only good for my area, but I was still proud none-the-less.  If you have a Whites IGA near you, they are having a sale on Purex Liquid Laundry detergent for $1.99.  If you have coupons from your paper this weekend there's a BOGO (buy one get one free) coupon for Purex Laundry Detergent in the Red Plum insert, so you get them for $1.00 a piece!  Now that's a good buy!  I'm not a huge fan of Whites or of the Green cleaning supplies, but hey, cheap is cheap. :)

30 Day Shred

I'm planning on starting Jillian's 30 day shred again starting January 1st and will keep a log of how I'm doing here on my blog. If anyone else wants to do it, you can get the dvd at Walmart for $9, all you need are some small hand weights and a floor mat if you're doing it on a hard surface, if you're on carpet then you don't need one. Leave comments on my blog and let me know how you're doing! Good luck to anyone else who is trying this!

My two favorite (cooking) recipes for the moment.

I just thought I would share my two recipes that I've made lately that are my absolute favorite! Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you have about them (Shelly_Welly_Belly@yahoo.com). p.s. I'm going back to school for real this time in January! Yay! (only part time, so don't worry!) :)

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

PREP TIME: 10 Min
COOK TIME: 1 Hr
READY IN 1 Hr 10 Min

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 pounds ground lean beef
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
4 cubes beef bouillon
2 medium carrots, shredded
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons white vinegar (I use 1/4 of a cup instead for a little extra "bite")
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 quarts water, divided
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 head cabbage, cored and cut into wedges

DIRECTIONS
Crumble the ground beef into a large pot. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef bouillon cubes, carrots, onion, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Pour in 1 quart of water, and bring to a boil. Stir to break up the beef while heating. Once the soup comes to a boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes over low heat.
Pour in another quart of water, and return to a slow boil. Add garlic and cabbage. Simmer for 25 minutes, until cabbage is tender. Ladle into soup bowls to serve.

Cafe Rio Sweet Pork Enchiladas!

Ingredients:

SAUCE: Large Pork Loin, 18 oz Coca-Cola Classic (do not use diet or generic), 1 cup sugar, (1) 7 oz can of chipotle chilies in ADOBO sauce, 1 tsp dry ground mustard (heaping), 1 tsp. minced garlic.

OTHER: Large package of flour tortillas, green salsa that has tomatillos and sarano peppers in it, and LOTS of shredded mozzarella cheeze.

Directions: PORK: Remove chilies from the can of adobo sauce. Rinse chilies with the coke to get all the sauce. Discard chilies. Also rinse can with coke to get all remaining sauce. Put all ingredients in blender. Blend, pour over pork in crock pot. Add brown sugar towards the end, a tablespoon at a time. After cooking, pull apart with forks into bite size pieces. Leave in sauce while you serve it.

ENCHILADAS: Add heaping spoonfulls of sweet pork to flour tortilla, sprinkle with generous amount of cheese. Fold tortilla burrito style. Drizzle green salsa over the top (not too much) and again sprinkle on top with generous amount of cheese. Fill caserole dish with as many enchiladas that you can and stick in the oven to broil until cheese is melted.

Introducing Coupon Shelly!

Okay, so I'm just starting to get into this whole coupon business. It is VERY confusing! As I go along, I'm going to post things that I found that are helpful. For example, I keep seeing these women post things to their blogs about how they got their Walgreens purchases for free after using their "Register Rewards." I had NO idea what that meant, so I googled it and found this VERY informative description about how to save at Walgreens at about.com. So click HERE if you're interested like I was about how all these women get these super deals at Walgreens. I'll let you know how I do!

Also, here is the link for the same type of info for CVS.

Sense and Sensibility

Sense and Sensibility Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is my favorite Jane Austen book. It represents the incredible bond between sisters. Parts of this book remind me a little of that movie "He's Just Not That Into You." It addresses the issue of class division and is a constant reminder of how guys can be the biggest jerks, but can also have redeeming qualities at the same time. :)

Bridget Jone's Diary: The Edge of Reason

Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2 volume paperback boxed set) Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Of course I had to read the sequal to Bridget Jone's diary. This one did not disappoint! An even funnier encounter is had between Daniel Cleaver and Mr. Darcy. The movie was funny, but had an almost completely different plot, which is okay because it's almost like getting another story out of the series!

Mansfield Park

Mansfield Park Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Okay, I loved the drama in this book! Who says they didn't have soap operas in the late 18th century?! Albeit the incestual love story between cousins is a bit awkward at times. If you can get past that and realize that it wasn't a social taboo back then, then you'll be just fine. It was a lot longer than I expected, but didn't let me down.

Bridget Jone's Diary

Bridget Jones's Diary Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Wow! I LOVED this book! It was required reading for Brian's Women's Studies course his last year of undergrad, so I read it for him since it was a less important class. Truly funny and revealing of female insecurities. It has a bit of vulgar humor in it....okay, more than a little! I simply had to go watch the movie after reading this and I was not let down. If you have already seen the movie and not read the book, I still recommend your read the book as the plot has a few little interesting twists in it that the movie does not have.
